Starting October 1st, 2024, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection will be aligning all three trusted traveler programs’ fees to $120. For the NEXUS program, this marks a sharp $70 increase from their original $50 fee. Meanwhile, it’s a more modest $20 increase for the Global Entry program, and for SENTRI participants, it’s a slight decrease of $2.25
In addition to the price changes, there’s good news for families. Children under 18, whose guardian or parent is a program member, will no longer have to pay an additional fee.
This fee increase has been anticipated for some time now, with initial mentions dating back to 2020. Despite the bump in fees, I still find these programs worthwhile, especially considering plans to expand automated screening in more airports in the future.
Both Citi and Chase have stated that they will be covering the fee increase. With all three programs now sharing the same fee, will more credit cards extend coverage to include the NEXUS and SENTRI programs? Let me know in the comment if these changes are a big deal for you and whether it will change which travel cards you decide to hold.
