Alaska Airlines and Bank of America have introduced one of the most interesting premium travel credit cards we have seen in a long time: the Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards Summit Credit Card. It combines airline-specific perks with benefits that appeal to frequent travelers who split time between the U.S. and abroad.

Who Is the Card For?
The Atmos Rewards Summit is clearly built for frequent Alaska Airlines flyers and international travelers. Snowbirds who live part of the year outside the U.S. will find the unlimited 3x points on foreign purchases especially valuable.
If your home airport is a major Alaska hub like Seattle (SEA) or San Francisco (SFO), this card is worth a closer look.
Breaking Down the Benefits
Points on Everyday Spending Abroad
Earning 3x points on all foreign purchases makes this card unique. If you spend a lot of time outside the U.S., every purchase counts toward faster rewards.
Annual Global 100K Companion Award
Spend $60,000 in a cardmember year and you’ll unlock a 100,000-point Global Companion Award. This benefit is aimed at heavy spenders, but for high-income snowbirds it can be extremely valuable.
Think of it as a coupon that discounts a second reward ticket by up to 100,000 points. To use it, you must book two award tickets on the same itinerary. If the second ticket costs fewer than 100,000 points, the leftover points are forfeited.
For example, let’s say you’re booking Seattle (SEA) to Tokyo Narita (NRT) in business class for 75,000 points. With the companion award, you’d pay 75,000 points plus fees for the first ticket, and the second ticket would cost 0 points plus fees. The remaining 25,000 points from the coupon simply disappear.
These awards are flexible and can be used not only on Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines, but also on partners such as STARLUX and Japan Airlines (JAL).
Anniversary Global 25K Companion Award
Unlike the 100K Companion Award, this one requires no spending threshold. Every year you keep the card, you automatically receive a 25,000-point companion award along with 10,000 status points.
It works the same way as the 100K Companion Award: you must book two award tickets on the same itinerary, and the companion ticket is discounted by up to 25,000 points. Any unused points from the award are forfeited.
Complimentary lounge passes and Wi-Fi access
You receive two Alaska Lounge passes and two single-flight Wi-Fi passes every quarter. Alaska’s lounges are solid but not on par with Chase Sapphire Lounges or Centurion Lounges. Think closer to The Club lounges (decent but not luxurious).
The Wi-Fi passes are useful if you don’t already get them from T-Mobile or another perk. Keep in mind that Alaska and Hawaiian are rolling out free Starlink Wi-Fi in the next few years, which may reduce this card’s long-term value here.
Free checked bag and preferred boarding
Checking bags often? This perk can save you $30–$40 per flight, and it extends to up to 6 guests. Preferred boarding is less impactful unless you usually buy basic fares.
Global Entry or TSA PreCheck
The $120 credit covers Global Entry, which also includes TSA PreCheck. Skip PreCheck-only applications. It does not cover NEXUS, which would have been more useful for travelers who cross between the U.S. and Canada.
Inflight rebate
Get 20% back on food, beverages, and Wi-Fi. Handy if you regularly buy onboard snacks, but less relevant if you already have lounge access or free Wi-Fi.
Points Sharing
The ability to pool points with up to 10 people for free is surprisingly generous. Many programs charge a fee for transfers, so this is a standout feature.
Same-Day Change and Travel Delay Credit
This is one of the most powerful perks. You can change to another flight on the same day for free, giving you flexibility and sometimes saving money by booking the cheapest option first and swapping later. Be cautious though, if flights are sold out, you could be stuck with the original schedule. The $50 voucher for delays of 2+ hours is another nice safety net.
Is the Atmos Rewards Summit Right for You?
This card makes sense if you:
- Live near an Alaska Airlines hub
- Spend a large portion of your year outside the U.S.
- Want to earn status with Alaska and the oneworld alliance
- Value flexibility for same-day flight changes
It probably does not make sense if you:
- Rarely fly Alaska Airlines
- Do not care about oneworld status
- Want more flexible lounge access or broader airline coverage
Bottom Line
The Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards Summit Credit Card is not for everyone. But if you are a snowbird, a frequent Alaska flyer, or someone who spends heavily abroad, the benefits can easily outweigh the $395 annual fee. Between 3x on all foreign purchases, generous companion awards, and free same-day changes, this is one of the most traveler-friendly airline cards available right now.
