The Hyatt Regency Seattle is the largest hotel in the Pacific Northwest. Located in Seattle’s bustling downtown area, it has a sleek design and inviting atmosphere. The hotel is steps away from popular attractions and public transportation. Let’s take a look at what this property has to offer.
Disclosure: I am not affiliated with Hyatt. I did not receive any monetary or other incentives from them. My opinions are solely based on my personal experience.
Location
The Hyatt Regency Seattle is in the heart of downtown, adjacent to the Seattle Convention Center. Just two blocks from the Westlake light rail station and a quick 10-minute walk to Pike Place Market, it’s an ideal spot for first-time visitors. The light rail offers direct connections to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, enhancing its appeal. If you’re driving, note that self-parking is available on-site for $48 per night.
Room
Upon check-in, I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded from a “King Bed View” room to a “King Bed Corner” room, thanks to my Explorist status. The room I got was located on the 34th floor. The hotel features two elevators: one servicing floors 9 to 26 and the other reaching floors 27 to 45.
As I entered the room, I was greeted by stunning city views. The spacious ~400 sqft layout includes a king-size bed, a small sofa, a coffee table, and a desk at the far end. While the desk is functional, it may feel cramped if you use anything larger than a 15-inch laptop.
The bed proved to be quite comfortable, with no issues regarding the mattress. The pillows, reminiscent of those at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver, are shallow, but I found stacking them an effective solution this time.
The room is equipped with a 65-inch flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge, a coffee maker, and a safe. The TV supports Chromecast, allowing me to stream a movie quickly.
The Wi-Fi speed was disappointing, with only 23 Mbps for download and upload. The room also does not have an Ethernet jack, so you won’t be able to increase the connection speed in any way.
Food
The hotel offers a few dining options:
Andare Kitchen & Bar: Located on the first floor, this Italian restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and features a weekly Happy Hour from 2 to 5 pm. I didn’t dine here, so I can’t speak to the food quality.
Daniel’s Broiler: Situated on the second floor, this establishment specializes in traditional steaks and seafood. It serves dinner daily from 4 to 9 p.m. I also didn’t get to try this restaurant during my stay.
The Market: Located on the second floor. The Market offers personalized espresso beverages, pastries, fresh sandwiches, salads, and hot entrees. I received a $15 food and beverage credit here. I did get one of their pastry and a drink. Both were okay. I found it a missed opportunity that the coffee served was from Starbucks. Given Seattle’s renowned coffee culture, there are plenty of better options within Seattle. Anchorhead Coffee is one of my favorites and is only a block away.
As a frequent traveler, I typically prefer to explore dining options outside the hotel. If you’re in the mood for soup dumplings, I recommend Din Tai Fung, just a block away on the fourth floor of Pacific Place. For a taste of Japanese desserts, Nana Green Tea offers delightful options like matcha mochi parfaits along with light meals.
For even more choices, take the light rail one stop north to Capitol Hill, where you’ll find various restaurants, late-night bars, and music venues. Pike Place Market is also a must-visit for local fare from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Service
Service at the Hyatt Regency Seattle is outstanding. I requested slippers via the app, and room service arrived within three minutes – an impressive speed that I’ve consistently experienced at Hyatt properties.
Facilities
Gym
The gym is located on the 8th floor of the building. It is well-equipped and quite spacious. Hyatt Regency Seattle also teamed up with Future to provide virtual personalized workouts.
On-site FedEx
There is an on-site FedEx on the 2nd floor if you need to ship or print anything.
Lounge
There is a lounge on the 8th floor opposite the gym. The lounge has tons of seating and some computers for guests to use. The balcony has some fire pits for people to relax. There is also a selection of coffee and drinks for guests to enjoy.
Overall Impressions
Like the Hyatt Regency in Vancouver, BC, the Hyatt Regency Seattle is an excellent hotel for first-time visitors. Its prime location near great food and attractions, combined with exceptional service, makes it a top option for business and leisure travelers. For World of Hyatt card holders, this hotel is a category 4 and a great option to use your yearly first reward night certificate. Opened in 2018, this hotel’s modern amenities and convenient access solidify its status as a go-to destination for a comfortable stay in Seattle and one that I will recommend to friends.
