For those who may not be aware, Hyatt has recently updated their milestone awards chart within the World of Hyatt program this year. As a reminder, I am not affiliated with Hyatt in any capacity; my interest in their program is purely based on personal preference.
New Award Chart
In the past, members were limited to a predetermined award upon reaching a certain number of nights stayed. However, this year, Hyatt is expanding the options in their program. Rather than being constrained to a single, predefined award, members will now have a greater variety of awards to choose from.
After achieving a milestone, you’ll have 90 days to select from the available options. Notably, the FIND experience credit can be used globally and is also cumulative, enhancing its value.
No more unlimited Guest of Honor
As part of this change, Hyatt is modifying the “Guest of Honor” benefit for Globalist members. Previously, this feature enabled Globalist members to extend their status benefits, such as complimentary breakfast and late checkout, to non-Globalist members during their award stays.
Now, the “Guest of Honor” benefit is integrated into the award chart and is applicable for both cash and point stays of up to seven nights. Additionally, members who offer the “Guest of Honor” perk to someone else will receive one elite night credit as a bonus.
My Take
I believe these changes are mostly positive for members. World of Hyatt remains one of the few valuable hotel award programs out there. These changes are especially helpful for those who find certain awards less valuable, much like my situation with the club access awards that I rarely utilize. The loss of the unlimited “Guest of Honor” perk is unfortunate, but I think few people use the “unlimited” aspect of this perk. On the whole, I consider these updates to be a positive development for the program.
